This is it. The view from the UAF campus in Fairbanks around midday on one of the shortest days of the year, Saturday, December 20 (click to enlarge). On that day, the sun was above the horizon for 3 hours, 44 minutes, and 1 second. At the time of this photo, the sun was at its highest point of the day (solar noon), a mere 2° above the horizon!
Note that the shortest day is actually Sunday, December 21, but only by 11 seconds. Close enough.
